Her Voice from War

Trail of the Caribou Research Group is excited to launch this new website ShareHerStory.ca

This is a website where we can collect and share information and start the detailing and preservation of the stories of the women of Newfoundland and Labrador. Their roles in shaping our heritage and developing our place.

It will have 2 distinct focal groups:

FIRST - those who served in the Military, Para Military, Nursing and support organizations both at home and abroad for any nation

SECONDLY - those who married Newfoundland service men particularly in World War One.  Both of these focal groups are specifically intended to gather information for specific projects.

REASONING

Military Service - We want to record in detail the legacy and the deeds of the women of the Dominion of Newfoundland and now province of Newfoundland and Labrador.  We want to  commemorate and ensure their deeds, service and sacrifice are forever remembered.  This will start with those involved in WWI but any information involving WWII will be recorded now for the future use as this project expands.

War Brides – We are working on a project to record the women from other countries who married men from here during times of war or service overseas.  We are particularly looking for WWI war brides.  There is a good body of research and books written on WWII war brides.  As the project expands, with permission, we'll utilize this research, but any information is appreciated now.  From both WWI and WWII.  As well, there are a number of Newfoundland and Labrador nurses who served overseas and married soldiers from other countries.  What impact did this have on NL?

Disclaimer:  Please be advised that the purpose for gathering this information is to share it with researchers and other family members or like minded people around the world.  Please only share what you are comfortable with people knowing.  The intent to gather this information is not for personal monetary gain.  The Trail of the Caribou Research Group may use this information to create a book for sale to raise funds for our charity and it's mission.  To learn more about the the mission please visit us at Trailofthecaribou.ca
